Mr. Gottis was awarded a scholarship to Syracuse University in New York where he simultaneously earned his M.A. in International Relations and his Juris Doctor.
Mr. Gottis specializes in the development and operations of nonprofit organizations. He began his career in the nonprofit sector by assisting nonprofits gain their tax exempt, or 501(c)(3) status. It was during this time that Mr. Gottis witnessed most nonprofits go out of business in the 6-9 months it took for the tax exempt filing to be processed. He realized it was not due to a lack of passion within the nonprofits, but a lack of resources that was responsible for the organizational failures. Through this experience, Mr. Gottis began assisting nonprofits with planning for significant revenue generation and sustainable organizational design. A dedicated community activist, Mr. Gottis works to bring justice and equality to all citizens and to the LGBTQ population specifically. Mr. Gottis is currently chair of the Gay and Lesbian Center of Greater Long Beach where he is working to bring about awareness within the community regarding women’s health issues and the critical need for low-income senior housing. |
