Maria Gloria Gonzalez
Director of Child Development Program
Gonzalez joined Plaza Community Services in May 2007 as Director of Child Development Program. In this role, Gonzalez ensures that all the Child Development Services maintain high quality services consistent with the most respected practiced in the field of child development and in accordance with the agency’s mission. Since her arrival, Gonzalez is already working to put the child developments services in the path to accreditation by the National Association for the Education for Young Children (NAEYC).
Gonzalez came to Plaza Community Services with more that 16 years experience working in the field of child development education. Previously, she worked as Early Childhood Education Director for North Valley Caring Services, where she oversaw the Early Childhood Education Program and the Family Literacy Program. She also worked for Estrada Courts RMC Child Development Programs where she became the Site Supervisor for Ramona Gardens Housing Projects Child Development Center in East Los Angeles. As the program grew she was transferred to Estrada Courts Housing Projects, where she became Family Childcare Program Manager. She managed over 65 family providers, bringing over 240 childcare slots to a high need community. She is one of the co-founders of the Estrada Courts RMC Family Childcare Network. Gonzalez has an Associate Degree in Child Development from East Los Angeles Community College, a Bachelor Degree in Interdisciplinary Education with a Minor in Public Administration from CSU Dominguez Hills, and she is currently working on a Master Degree in Public Administration from CSU Dominguez Hills. She is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children and National Association for Family Child Care Provider. She is an accreditation observer for the National Association for Family Child Care Providers and a certified trainer for WestEd: Program for Infants and Toddlers Caregivers. |
